Veterans Memorial, Anthem, AZ.

Louise Speaks:  Today we are on a journey of seeing Quirky or unusual things in Arizona.  Our first stop is another Veterans Memorial in the town of Anthem.  Anthem is between Prescott and Phoenix and the monument is in a beautiful city park.

The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918 marked the official end of World War I. The five pillars in the monument represent the five branches of the U.S. military. It was designed by Palmer Jones, and unveiled in November 2014.

A uniquely designed monument to visit on any day — but every Nov. 11th at 11:11am it delivers a special solar alignment.  At the Anthem Veterans Memorial, at 11:11am on Nov. 11, the sun shines directly through holes in five marble pillars, illuminating a round mosaic of the Great Seal of the United States.

We have made a point of seeing as many Veterans Memorial as possible and this one has got to be one of the nicest.  Would be great to see it during the solar image, but seeing it today was just as spectacular.
