Peak, you’ll find these ruins right off the freeway.

The Picacho Peak Trading Post, burned to the ground after an electrical problem started a fire on the night of November 16, 2002 according to investigators.  The Trading Post was a well-known stop visible from I-10 between Phoenix and Tucson.  The great collection of souvenirs and gifts were also destroyed.  Tragically, the large fiberglass Indian Chief that beckoned with a brave salute to motorists was also lost.  All that remained were the foot stumps and burnt arms.
